Because I renovate furniture I thought this was going to be a blast - I was wrong . I was reminded how much I despise building anything that requires following directions . Especially directions that decide after two steps to start bundling . I have been having so many problems with this little house. Which I’m sure without Gabriel’s that’s( my 18 year old cat,) feelings , I wouldn’t be quite so frustrated with it, but from beginning to end, it was definitely not rainbows and sunshine. You have to remember you’re not dealing with people who put together things on a regular basis. Clarity is key and so appreciated step-by-step. I think I had to do at least three steps over again which was definitely infuriating. Now when I finally had it all together, I thought to myself the whole point of this is because we need to keep Maverick my golden doodle out of his food. We don’t really need the latch , but since I was on a roll, I felt the need to put the latch on, and maybe he would want it open at some point. I’ll get to that later … so I’m so very proud of myself, after a very frustrating fight to get the latch on, and I go to close it and it’s completely locked , and I cannot get it to unlock. The house will not close with the latch on . At this point I am literally losing my marbles so I unscrew it and I close the thing and then I realize that it’s now completely off in terms of alignment … the entire house . I’m sure you can imagine how pleasantly surprised I was at this point to see this new detail arise. Obviously I had to walk away. I was angry. Later that evening I came back I sanded it I painted it. I waxed it . I realized in retrospect that I had put the latch on backwards. I tried it again and this time made sure it was bent. I thought I was good to go, but it still won’t close. FYI Gabriel is going into the house, but not drinking any water in the house which is just weird I got him brand new bowls that are extremely high end , he is eating out of his bowl, but he will not drink the water out of his bowl, but he is happy to drink out of my golden doodles slobbery bowl - well actually no he’s not. He screams and screams in front of the bowl me to dump out the fresh water I just filled from the water dispenser after Maverick drinks , (which is almost empty note to self - I have to go refill at Whole Foods. ) WTF? Maybe he wants the the house open so he feels less confined, this is a new development for him to be confined while he’s eating. I thought he was going to be thrilled . He is not . I for the life of me cannot figure out how to get that latch on so that it will close and open. .. I’ve tried multiple times, I am a highly educated, smart woman, who is capable of many things, except for this , the whole point of this house was to lessen the screaming in the household- Gabriel is quite the meower , talker , aka screamer, always been , he is a ragdoll. But nowhere absolutely nowhere on the directions does it have any sort of anything in regards to the latch on the website it doesn’t even have a close-up picture of how the latch goes. I’ve tried to zoom in and replicate .. that that’s how I thought I fixed it the first time I was wrong. I never write such long novels in regards to Products, but this one is taking so much time and energy , and I’m still dealing with this stupid latch . I doubt anyone is reading this, but if you are forego the latch all together from the beginning u less this is your forte ! The last picture is the latch suspended in the air waiting for a solution 🤬
